ECDC at South African Auto Week

The ECDC was excited to participate in the South African Auto Week last week which was also addressed by Eastern Cape Premier, Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane. In his address, the Premier emphasised the Eastern Cape’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for the automotive industry and its transition to electric vehicles (EVs).

A product of the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (naamsa), this year’s edition also celebrated a significant milestone – 100 years of the South African automotive industry. The SA Auto Week is an important platform to keep informed of the latest trends and developments of an integral sector for the Eastern Cape economy.

The Automotive Industry Development Centre – Eastern Cape (AIDC-EC), a subsidiary of the ECDC, promotes the province’s automotive value proposition to drive international and domestic investment in the sector. The Corporation is also excited with the important work being done by the AIDC-EC in leading the charge in the transition of the sector to EVs as well as the roll-out of electric charging stations throughout the province.

The ECDC is also committed to opening up the sector by integrating emerging automotive component suppliers into the value chain through various financial and non-financial instruments such as the recently launched Automotive Operator Blended Finance Scheme.

We are committed to ensuring that the Eastern Cape remains an attractive proposition and destination for automotive investment.
