LEATHER PRODUCTS WORKSHOP IN KOMANI🧵👞👜

Updated: 14 hours ago

The South African clothing and textiles industry is a highly diverse and mature industry, with an important role to play as an employer in the country.

The domestic Clothing, Textiles, Footwear and Leather (CTFL) manufacturing industry has a relatively high level of diversification and is supported by well-established wholesale and retail trade segments.

The leather industry in the Eastern Cape’s history revolves around the province’s role as a major livestock producer, with the Eastern Cape having the largest number of livestock in South Africa.

As ECDC Arts and Craft desk we saw a need to use the material that comes from our province to transfer skill to local Crafters and Designers, and it is one of the greatest industries in South Africa and Worldwide.

The training takes place in Komani conducting Leather Training from 10-14 March 2025 and we are training 15 Enterprises. By the end of this 5-day training each crafter would have completed leather wallet, bag, belt, and sandals.

We will also be handing over tools for leather making to these enterprises to help develop their businesses.
