The Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC) extends an invitation for normalization of leasehold arrangements with the unauthorized occupants of the ECDC properties.
The unauthorized occupants are requested to approach the ECDC Regional Offices in order to make arrangements which will be subject to the ECDC policies. Key to these policies is that a deposit of one month is applicable with the lease fee of the market value depending on local demand for the property class category and the conditions of the property. In normalizing the unauthorized occupant, the ECDC will consider the circumstances of each occupation on a case by case basis.
The normalization of leasehold process is part of the Property Modernization and Development Strategy currently rolled out by the ECDC to ensure long term sustainability of the Corporation through rationalizing the property portfolio to improve productivity, transform it to improve efficiency and attract investments, and to create new property ownership patterns in the Eastern Cape.
